How to bid on used cars at auctions in Japan?

How to bid on used cars at auctions in Japan?

2025-11-19

1-Confirm the vehicle model you need.

For example, you need a pickup truck, brand Toyota, model Hilux, vehicle year, and vehicle mileage. After compiling this information (or portions thereof), it will be forwarded to the relevant staff members.

At this step, the staff will work with you to confirm the customs procedures for your region.

2- Locate a vehicle

Staff will search for vehicles that meet your requirements within the existing vehicle database (I typically use the USS platform) and provide you with the vehicle's operational condition details.

You can clearly see the exact locations of any vehicle defects and all relevant vehicle information.

I will write an English version for you.

3-Check vehicle prices

This is not a standard vehicle sale but an auction, so we need to research historical transaction prices for similar vehicles to provide you with a price estimate, typically in the form of a range.

4-Payment for auction items

Since the price is a range and international transfers often involve processing times, we typically charge the upper limit directly to ensure the auction does not fail due to insufficient funds during bidding.

Payment must be received at least five business days prior to the auction.

5-Auction Session

We will bid on your behalf and complete the auction at the lowest possible price.

At this point, there are two possible directions:

(1) Auction successful. Preparing customs clearance and shipment. Any excess funds will be refunded via the original payment method or transferred to the “Auction Dedicated Account¹” with your consent.

(2) Bid unsuccessful. All funds will be refunded to your original payment method or deposited into your “Auction Dedicated Account¹” upon your consent.

6-Shipment

Typically, we include FOB or CIF costs in our quotations, so we can immediately begin arranging transportation and preparing the vehicle's original documentation (de-registration certificate, vehicle inspection report, etc.) after the auction concludes.

Your purchase has now been successfully completed. We will provide all necessary documentation before the vehicle arrives at your port.

7-Final Thoughts

It may sound like a complicated process, but it's actually the most reliable and cost-effective approach in business.

First, direct auctions eliminate middlemen who take hefty profits, saving you money.

Second, you receive an official, unaltered vehicle inspection report—guaranteed authentic.

Third, it's surprisingly straightforward: you simply select the vehicle, and we handle every step of the process for you.

Auction Dedicated Account¹

This refers to the dedicated account we set up for you. It simplifies long-term cooperation by eliminating time-sensitive hassles, offering flexible deposits and withdrawals. A real-time ledger is generated for each transaction, ensuring every penny has a clear purpose and record.
